As all things should be ...

Today's report might be a little bit different. First of all, it seems that Athirah's doing a really good job with her exercises. Every week she is sure to be active, mostly doing Bahasa Melayu or Mathematics exercises. What I would like to share with everyone is just how effective it seems to perform the act of "gamification" on matters that to some would be boring or dull mostly due to its repetitiveness. In the case of Ilearn-Ace, it would be the incentive of reaping rewards from answering well in the exercises. The rewards are mostly in the form of coins and experience.

As one can observe from the appended photo below, Athirah has been doing Bahasa Melayu practice repetitively. This did not seem to bother her, because she would in return collect a coins based on her marks to be later converted into rewards, mostly in the form of playing games or buying stuff for her avatar.

Athirah seems to not prefer to spend her coins on the games provided in the platform. But rather, she would spend her coins on accessories, furniture and food to be given to her avatar. These virtual items are mostly used to feed her avatar and/or decorate her house. She also levels up after completing a few exercises, which unlocks more rooms for her to decorate and explore.

What can be said here is that it is quite remarkable how something redundant or can be considered as a chore to some can turn into something that people actually are looking forward to do. This proves that in anything that we do, there should be a balancing point, too much or too little of something can be bad. In this instance, too much work will eventually lead Athirah to stop using Ilearn-Ace altogether, whereas too much play would not be beneficial for Athirah's future academic excellence.

I admire the dedication Athirah seems to be putting towards her avatar, as well as the thorough thinking of the developers of the platform. I aspire to be like them one day, creating a software that would help others in many different ways. Let this experience be a stepping stone for me to further improve and idealize my thought process for the things I hope to create in the future.
